Are You Sold Out To Jesus?

Really Sold Out, Not Just Playacting

(A True Story)

Are you sold out for Jesus? I mean really sold out? Jesus was totally sold out to His Father and we should be totally sold out to Him! Let me share with a true story of a modern-day man who was completely sold out to Jesus. Recently, a young African pastor was martyred for his unwavering faith in our LORD JESUS CHRIST. With the sentence of death upon him and his impending death imminent, he penned his own epitaph just hours before his execution. After his death and his inauguration into GLORY, the epitaph that was later found in his desk drawer:

I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have HOLY SPIRIT power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of HIS. I won’t look back, let down, slow down, back away or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight-walking, small planning, smooth knees, cheap living and dwarfed goals. I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotion, plaudits, or popularity. I don’t have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on HIS presence, walk by patience, live by prayer, and labor by power. My face is set, my gate is fast, my goal is Heaven, my road is narrow, and my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, turned back, lured away, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the enemy, negotiate at the table of the adversary, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won’t give up, shut up, or let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up and preached up for the cause of CHRIST; I am a disciple of JESUS. I must go till HE comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till HE stops me. When HE comes for HIS own, HE will have no problem recognizing me. My banner will be clear… This man was unwavering in his faith! The great theologian John Calvin once said, “Build a man a fire and he will be warm for a day; set him on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.” John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church said, “Set yourself on fire, and others will come to watch you burn.” I believe that God wants us “on fire” for Him! I believe He wants this type of courageous commitment to be found in every believer in every church across the globe today. If you and I have been saved by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, then the Bible tells us that we are ministers of the Gospel. And if we are ministers of the Gospel, the Bible tells us in Hebrews 1:7, that GOD makes his ministers “a flame of fire.” We are to be passionate about the things that matter to God. What is passion? Webster’s dictionary calls passion an “intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction.” What are you passionate about? What is the intense, driving, overmastering feeling or conviction in your life that you live for? Is it a job? A relationship? A sport or hobbie? Or is it to live a life completely sold-out and saturated with Jesus Christ? The apostle Paul said, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Why has the flame of passion turned into a flicker in so many Christians lives? Why has apathy and lethargy crept into many churches, especially in the western civilization? I believe it’s because many churches and believers have neglected the weightier matters, the things that matter most to God: the Word of God and the souls of men. We have let the world’s value system infiltrate the church. We’ve been sucked into the vortex of materialism. We’ve allowed much of the world to creep into the church and set the standard for the church, instead of the church setting the standard for the world. It’s like the old saying, “If you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything!” We’re spending more time being amused than being consumed with the things of God, and it is sucking the life out of the church. This world system is diametrically opposed to God. The Apostle Paul even warned us in Colossians 2:8, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” In 1 John 2:15 -17, God’s Word tells us: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. May you and I be fiery, passionate, sold-out witnesses and ambassadors for Jesus! May we not be enamored by the world, but in radically in love with Jesus!
