Outreach to Asian nationals is a project that some churches and ministries don’t care to take on for one reason or another. Many just send in a church planting team, train a few nationals, and then go back to their home church leaving the new church to fend for themselves. In all fairness, a good many of the Asian languages and their various dialects are much more complex and difficult to learn. Translators are available but not always for evangelistic outreach. Southeast Asia is particularly difficult due to the language barriers and the extreme heat. And the expense of going into the various countries of Asia is also much higher due to corrupt government officials, shipping and postal employees who steal from the packages and mail. Travel in Asia is made more difficult due to the lack of public transportation or adequate transportation for the people to be able to travel to and from our training sessions.
But Evangelism Training is more interested in the eternal security of the peoples and countries of Asia than they are about erecting buildings and promoting denominations. ETI is well aware of ministry opportunities that exist in the various Asian countries and has already traveled to several of these Asian countries conducting training sessions. Is it difficult working within these Asian countries? Yes it is. Is it worth going into these countries to try to reach these people for Jesus? Absolutely! Pray can, and does, work through all the stumbling blocks because God wants these people to know His Son as well as the rest of the world does. The success of reaching the peoples of Asia is made sweeter when one realizes what they must give up in order to become a Christian. One doesn’t have to look into the media very far to know the violence that is perpetrated upon Christian converts by followers of the more dogmatic religions of the Asiatic countries. However, God is greater than all of these and is quite capable of opening doors for ministries to realize great success in reaching the peoples of Asia for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Even with the language barriers our training partners can work well with foreign nationals as translators. The training sessions are set up in such a way as to allow locals to learn how to effectively and simply share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their friends, families, and neighbors. Many of these countries are more difficult to evangelize due to staunch religiosity already in place. Many of these Asian countries even have laws against proselytizing, especially when Christians are involved in the outreach events. There are other ways in which to reach the lost of these countries such as teaching English or other languages to the locals using biblical texts as study materials. Many times all these people need is the Word of God in their language. Some of the more primitive of these countries rely on story telling or other visual training methods to reach them.
